Early Fall Along the Central Coast

This is the special time of year, the best time of year, along the Central Coast.

The red tailed hawks glide overhead, calling to each other from their vantage points atop the Monterey Pines and Sycamores.

Two black tailed does, with a yearling close behind, reveal the onset of fall by venturing down to the lawns for a midday munch. They dart back up the dry hillsides when a troublesome human jogger intrudes upon their trail.

Woodpeckers are the busiest of all, flitting from tree to tree, while acorns plop down from the oak tree branches around them.

California quail delicately rustle across the oak leaf mulch path.

Indian summer approaches...
