Why Me?
Recently I was questioned whether I had asked "Why me?" when I
was first diagnosed with cancer.
I tend to say "Why not me?"
Better me than a young newlywed who has her life, marriage and
future family to look forward to.
Why not me?
Better me than a mother with young children who need her,
A father whose family depends on him,
A scientist on the verge of an important discovery,
A doctor who heals,
A teacher who educates.
Why not me?
Better me than a fireman who rescues,
A nurse who comforts,
A clergyman who guides.
Better me than a farmer who feeds,
A grandmother who nurtures,
An artist who inspires.
Yes, I reply "Why not me?"
I do not ask God for a miracle to heal me.
I only ask for the strength to face whatever lies ahead!
