Tales from the Lupin Patch

The Thistle

By mid summer, along the Central Coast,
tawny gold hillsides
replace the lush green landscapes of the Spring.

Spots of brilliant color,
once common among the fields of poppies and lupin,
are now fond memories from months gone by.

We look to the lowly thistle
to provide our last glimpse of color for the year.

Soon all color will vanish for the season,
not to be seen again until next
the Spring uncovers the lupin for us,
once more.
