We Choose Hope!
The ability to hope is an important factor separating humans from animals.
Unlike other species, we can consciously anticipate the future.
We can weigh the pros and cons, and speculate to the best of our abilities, with the knowledge we have available to us.
Whether we toss the dice and gamble,
or prudently plan for our futures,
we do so with hope.
Hope has sustained our species through
migrations,
trial separations,
famines,
chemotherapy,
epidemics,
revolutions,
elections
and all of the brave,
yet often treacherous journeys of the human experience.
We choose to hope and move forward,
often against tremendous odds,
or we choose not to hope,
and either quickly succumb to suicide, or,
surrender slowly through destructive behaviors.
Overwhelmingly, no matter the circumstances,
we choose hope, otherwise our species would not exist today.
